Seemingly i need an IPI number.. why wasnt this shared or told during sign up

You don't need an IPI number to sign up for Taxi. You WILL need one, however, if you ever plan on getting paid for your music and working with libraries and publishers.

IPI numbers are given to you by your Performing Rights Organization (ASCAP, BMI, etc... whichever one you sign up with).

You mean why didn't TAXI ask you for your IPI number? Because they have nothing to do with royalty collection. That comes way later, after tracks have been forwarded and you get a call and a contract.

If you are a songwriter or composer pitching music, then you should be registered with a PRO. Which PRO depends on what country you live in. The US is either BMI or ASCAP, Canada is SOCAN, etc.
