just found a possible collab. i write the songs (melody. lyrics, chords), he will produce. how should we split the ownership to my songs if he:
A-fully produces my songs from scratch
B-only mixes the (midi) tracks i've already made
thanks

It depends - you both need to be happy with whatever is agreed. That's really the bottom line.
FWIW, I do a lot of collaborating. In some cases I write the lyrics, sketch the chord progression and then complete the production once the vocals are fleshed out, then mix in the final vocals when they're ready. But I still only ask for equal shares because you do not know exactly which element in a production takes it from great to killer or okay to brilliant. You can't quantify magic. So the fairest thing IMO is equal splits.

Yeah, 50/50 makes sense to me. Keep it simple and keep making great music.
