Hi everyone,
If someone downloads a song posted at Soundcloud, would that pay a royalty or, because it is "free listening" does that mean it would not pay??
thanks Susan

Hey Susan, downloads on SoundCloud don't pay any type of royalty at all. There's no income to be generated from SoundCloud directly, BUT they do have an option to sell your track via 3rd party platforms.
For example, I've got this one song that I've put a price-tag on:

See that little "Buy now - only 99 cents!" thing on there?? That's how you make money from SoundCloud. Anybody can do this (I think... you may have to buy the Cadillac SoundCloud package for $135/year though...) I used a website called "Sellfy" to set up my sales.
Other than that though, there's no type of monetization from SoundCloud like there would be from YouTube. Hope that helps.

Woah that's crazy! Doesn't that mean you get the whole 99cents? (!!??) I mean that's like a kind of "work around" you figured out!
Thanks
