Join PRO as Both Writer and Publisher?

I'm a bit confused on the publisher thing. Robin Frederick in her book says to also register as a publisher with your PRO.

When I joined ASCAP I only registered as the Writer. They required you to file for a tax number and stuff to sign up as publisher. And now on their website when you join, it gives two separate buttons for "writer or publisher".

For listings offering the full Publisher's share along with the Writer's share, do I need to go back to ASCAP and try to sign up as a Publisher?

Hey Dave, I'd highly recommend it. It's only like $35 bucks or so to create a Publishing registration with ASCAP.

That brings up a great Meta Data Question
Hadn't thought about it before...

When do we add our Publishing Info/# in the Meta Data?
When submitting to "Straight to Supervisor" Listings?
Or do you do that after contacted by the Supervisor?

Great question Cass - hadn't thought of that. Although in my case the email and name is the same (as is my PRO# etc).
