Performer's Right and Similar rights- Contract Question

Hello peeps, just a quick question, regarding a clause I read in a publisher's contract
so it states that I confirm that my performer's rights and any similar ones in relation to my contribution to the Recording have been fully 'bought-out" on a "work-for-hire' basis.
the contract continues and it looks to me like a 'standard' 50/50 deal.
So my question is why the mention then? what's the underlaying understanding? And how come they're talking about buying out rights, and work for hire, where no consideration monies are proposed or paid.
Am I making any sense?
Thank you all,
