I have a music library interested in one of my songs. This is their deal

1. Writer retains all writer royalties

2. Writer get half of all sync fees from dollar 1

3. Music Library retains 100% of the publishing

4. It's a non exclusive deal

I am new to the Music Library business. Is this common practice, especially the music library retaining 100% of the publishing?

Would appreciate all input. Thanks!

Hi..I know that there are all kinds of library deals. There are videos on TAX TV about this with Erin Jacobson, music attorney and others. I found them very informative.

She has articles as well...Here is her website:

I am sure there are books on it..best to know as much as you can about types of deals. Make sure you register your songs/recordings with a PRO like ASCAP, BMI (US)

Hope this helps! and congratulations!

Best,
Linda C
