Music Library Payment etc!! How does it work?!

Hi guys

Proper basic question here.

I’ve been contacted by a Music library and asked to sign a few cues over to them. This will be my first time signing with a Music library (big thank you to Taxi!)

My question is this. How does payment generally work for these types of arrangements?

A lot of Taxi listings start off with something like ‘ROCK CUES are needed for an (up to) $2,500 placement by a...’

I’m trying to find out how is the (up to) $2,500 paid? The library didn’t want bank details from me, just my PRO details. Does all revenue from this go through my PRO? Does that include any licensing and sync fees?

Any answers on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

This should be all spelled out in your agreement. If sync fees are payable on a placement, then the library has a specific payment scheme for that, maybe cutting a check once a quarter, for example. [But do know sync fees are rare in reality tv placements.] The library registers your cues with the PRO, and if one of your cues is placed, you will generally get the first backend about 9 months or a year afterwards.

Congratulations!! You made it over all the bars!
