When registering a song with your PRO does the song normally get some sort of unique number (on a world wide basis), or identifier of some kind or the title of the song is sufficient? If it does, is it important or even mandatory to mention it when contacting the company (buyer) ?

Apart from the internal work number the PRO assigns to each registered track, they associate what is called an ISWC code to them, which uniquely idefntifies each track all over the world
