Co-Writers, Publishing

Do you have something in writing with your Co-writers before pitching to companies? I use Cosynd, but I cannot submit writer splits without entering a publisher. However, most companies are after the publishing, so I'd have no reason to publish myself before shopping around. Maybe these companies would walk me through the process if signing, but I just want to have my ducks in a row and not waste anyone's time.

You should, and make sure they are signed up to a PRO and have their IPI ready.

Unless you sign away the publishing of your music, you (the writers) own all the publishing rights. If you have cowriters, and don't have the proper paperwork at hand, you may run into trouble sooner or later. Some libraries won't even work with you. Don't work without a proper paper trail.
