When a track has been submitted before the deadline (and still has the "edit" available), is there any significance to whether the new edit is uploaded on the profile versus the submitted page?

I'm wondering if those are the same... if you update one, then they both update, or if both should should be updated, etc...

They are the same. You upload tracks to your profile, then the submission engine pulls from them for the listing submission. If you want to change the track before the deadline, just replace the file in the track within your bio page.
