Hi all,

I am in the early stages of submitting work, and although hopeful I really don't expect to get a forward for a while. Just a question - do I need to worry at this early stage, about registering with a PRO?
or is this something you would address when you look like getting a placement.

Register with a PRO as soon as possible, regardless of forwards, deals and placements, so you will have one less thing to think about when getting contacted by a company

I once asked exactly the same question. Marco is right, because it can take some time. Also, what is to lose if it is for free?

Yes - Do it now. Without a PRO membership you can't sign any music to a library and it can take 2-3 weeks to receive your CAE/IPI number. If the library needs the music in a hurry it may mean you miss out.

thanks for the response guys.
I will attend to it ASAP.
I'm based in Australia,
any standouts or are they all basically the same?
ASCAP and BMI get mentioned a lot,
any that you recommend?

I would reccommened the native PRO to your own country, they are all affiliated with each other so any money collected by other foregin PRO's will eventually make it's way back to you.

It's just much simpler to deal with an organisation that is in your own terriotory and you won't have so many hoops to jump through
