Your first 'forward' is a great thing to be excited about, it means your track met the brief criteria and is broadcast quality as judged by industry experts. Congratulations!
However, there are several further steps before any money would change hands.
- A 'forward' means that your track will be passed on to the library responsible for the listing, along with your contact details. At the moment, that's all it means. Taxi has played its part and what happens next is all in the hands of the library.
- The library might no longer need such tracks, or might not like your track for some reason, and in that case you'll not hear anything further from them, so the track remains yours to do with as you wish. More positively, if they do like your track they'll get back to you with an offer of a contract.
- Its entirely up to you whether you want to accept the deal you're offered. If you accept then the library will want to set up an account for you that includes all you personal information (including CAE/IPI number).
- The library might ask for changes or edits to the track to suit their preferences before ingesting it. Once happy, they will also ask you for the full version in their preferred file standard, and probably some alternative and cut-down versions, or perhaps un-mastered stems, as well as meta-data.
- Once that's all done, the library are likely to include your track on an album of similar tracks, which might take them some time to assemble, get the artwork done, release and distribute.
- Only then will potential clients get access to your track to include in TV shows/films etc. That could happen fairly quickly, or it could take years, or in the worst case the track never gets used.
- When (if) your track is used the details of that use should (in theory) find their way back your PRO. If that use is in the same country as your PRO then the use will show on your statement, but that might take 6-9 months. If the use is in another country it could take up to 2 years before it shows up on your statement.
- Provided your accumulated earnings exceed the payment threshold you should get paid, otherwise they'll roll over to the next period.
Therefore, I wish you good luck for a positive response from the library so that all the other steps can commence.
