Need some feedback from musicians...

Hey guys,

Over the past few months i've been working pretty hard on compiling this deal (http://www.themusiciansguide.co.uk/epic-deal/) to help save bands money on things that help to build your fanbase & general expenses (e.g. recording, mixing, mastering, duplication) and i'm really keen to make it as useful as I possibly can. The cost of being an artist is so expensive these days (you can easily spend thousands before you even BEGIN to think about promoting your music) so anything I can do to lower that cost is a useful thing to be doing I think.

I just wondered if anyone had any feedback on the deal - good or bad?

You tell me. Has it worked for you?

Welcome Marcus,

I hope that goes well. :)

I watched your intro video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWx-E0Kq ... r_embedded

...there's a lot of wind hitting the mic. It was quite distracting.

Yea, should have used a wind shield :/

I notice you're also from Melbourne, Australia. I'm in Melbourne for another 6 weeks if you want to grab a coffee?

My opinion, if the contracts are better and easier to use than those you might find floating around the internet and if an act had enough of a promotional/mfg budget to use all or most of the discounts, it's probably a decent value, barring the focus group and contact list, which is of use only if you can afford to hire somebody to cold call (it's amazing, what can be outsourced, these days) or have the capacity to develop your own phone script.

The focus group is of limited use, if any-though you could always get lucky, 100 Jango spins is also pretty weak; if the goal is to determine which songs in a given project will be singles, that's nowhere near enough, but I guess is a start.

Would I buy it? No, because I don't currently have an act that can benefit from the entire spectrum of services offered, and also because the deal requires spending a good deal of money in order save money. It might be worth it for the right DIY act, but with as many irons as I have in the fire, the time, money and energy for a single big promotional push for any single project ain't in the cards.

Now, if you could also hook up a guitar strings/drum heads/sticks sponsorship and raffle off a tour van and gas/lodging support from a popular hotel chain for a year, then you'd be en fuego, imo. There are a ton of bands that would eat up a sweepstakes model, though there might be legalities and territories to consider, there. 8-)

Oh, and welcome to the forum!
