I don't know if there are any court cases that have actually put abuses of the creative commons license to the test legally. It still utilizes copyright law as it currently exists - and enforcement would have to be through the court systems of the country in question. The main idea behind the creative commons movement is similar to the free software movement - but in other creative outlets. From what I can see - it really works best for the written word; Articles, stories, etc that you want distributed to the largest number of people possible (it seems that the attribution license is the one I see most - you can share it with others - but you have to give proper credit to the author.).I'm not sure how I feel about it for music.

Thanks, Trent - it seems there are different levels of licensing, people can do what they wish with your music, but must pay you if it's used commercially. Specifically, there's a site called Magnatune that requires submitters to agree to the CC. They split with you 50/50 whatever income they drum up for you. I can't decide if this sounds like a good deal or not. Any other opinions? Thanks, all - A206
