If you own the current Kontakt version and a qualifying sample library, you can crossgrade to Komplete 10 for a very reasonable fee, at the moment.

Komplete 10 looks great, however I can't help but feel hosed by it. I bought Session Horns Pro, Funk Guitarist, RC24 and 48 reverbs from NI all for full pop. Now, for $99 i can get them all included as an upgrade to Komplete! Waves is just as bad as a company. You know how much money I paid for Waves Gold when it first came out!!! This is just one big consumer game we're in these days.

I am packing up and moving to the forest. No more tech for me....

It can be a bear, just getting one's own gear sluttery under control. Gear Acquisition Syndrome is a very real thing and can even be an obstacle to progress; you need to learn the difference between what you need and what you need next, cuz you're always gonna need something, and budgets tend to be sadly finite. A recording studio is a lot like a boat; a hole in the water you throw money into. With software in general and Native Instruments in particular, I've learned to wait for the sales cuz software can be discounted very deeply indeed, though sometimes it's easy to get so distracted by a discount, you forget whether the item is something that advances your capabilities.

Thanks for the tip! I've been on Komplete 7 since it came out in the '60's! Been dying to get X. Man for $100 bucks what an upgrade! Tons of great new stuff. Glad I caught the deal.

While we're talking software, I see Hollywood Strings Gold going for $200. Any opinions on it?

Thanks for the heads-up, Paulie! Just snagged it. It's a helluva upgrade from my plain ol' Kontakt 5, but I got the cross grade price of $399. Took the mail-delivery packaged option so I get a free hard drive out of it too. Score!

Got my Komplete 10 Ultimate package in the mail yesterday, and am sitting down to install right now. Came in a very handsome hard-drive, which will come in handy as these things tend to fill up faster than you'd think they should (remember when entire computers used to only just have like 4 mb's of hard drive space?)
