What do you all think of iZotope's Ozone 7 Elements plug-in? It's on sale for $99USD/$130CAD right now.....

I had to go watch a video review of it because I wasn't sure what I was seeing on the Izotope site. I have Ozone 7 Advanced,
which I absolutely love. So seeing what Elements is about is actually a bit disappointing. It feels gimmicky because you are
really just relying on presets and a couple of minimal sliders.
Hopefully someone with direct experience of it will comment but my 2c is save your dollars and buy Advanced when it's on sale,
or something else comparable. IIRC, I paid about 200 for Advanced on a crossgrade special from Izotope Trash.
And if you buy from sites like Audiodeluxe or JRR Shop you'll generally get it cheaper again than advertised sale price.

I stopped at Ozone 5. I liked that one, but then they started updating their software in a pace where I couldn't (and wouldn't) keep up. Guess I used it as a learning tool for mastering, as now I rarely use Ozone and rather rely on a sequence of individual plug-ins. Now Ozone also allows that, and the limiter II is good for sure. But my view is nah, don't need it. I actually prefer the stock plug-ins in Studio One in many cases.
I own a range of Izotope products, and RX is absolutely essential, but Izotope's pace of updates and similar type of plug-ins has made me a bit cautious about them, as too much of my budget went into updating plug-ins that weren't that game-changing for my work.

If you're not the sort that spends a lot of time fiddling with compressor settings, this will probably suit you just fine for general 'loudening and brightening', but if you got
MasterMix, which is cheaper, you'd have lotsa presets but still have access to all the controls, so you can learn what they do. Your call.

I have Tracktion's Mastermix and a couple other mixing plugins. Sounds like I've got enough to get on with, then hehe. Thanks!

I like it. Was recommended to me by an engineer with serious, BAFTA-winning credits.

I like Ozone 5 but most of the presets seem to over squash most mixes. The invisible lift is a nice preset to enhance a tune without slamming it.

I upgraded from Ozone 5 to 7 (standard, not elements), and I think it was worth it. Lots of improvements, and the standard v 7 has a standalone version - nice for doing references or sequencing a suite or an 'album' (whatever THAT is!). I also like Boz' The Wall, which, like all his plugs, is also a great value
http://www.bozdigitallabs.com/product/the-wall/(but I only used it in demo mode; sorry Boz, I just don't need a 4th or 5th limiter).

Just to be clear, I think Ozone 7 is great and possibly even worth what they charge; my comments are about the watered-down "Elements" version.

I agree with you Mojo. Just thought I'd chime in since I did upgrade recently.
