Creating Edit Points

In Robin Frederick's book Shortcuts For Songwriting..., she mentioned 90, 60, 30, and 15 second edits. She said each one is to end 0.5 sec before. So a 15 second edit would end exactly at 14.5 seconds.
Those of you who have placements where the library or music supervisor asked for these kind of edits; how closely do you follow Robin's above advice of ending the music in the edit exactly at a half second before the end?
It seems to me that writing them separate from the cue would create the cleanest sounding edits instead of trying to chop up a 15, 30, 60, or 90 second piece of an already existing cue.

yep that was a good one Cass.
Dave - well quality is important and whatever way you do it to be high quality is the right way, but its really a great quantity of quality tracks. And doing edits in a quick fashion from the main session saves you time.
Good luck!

Thanks for the advice guys, and the link.
I went through that topic and it helped. I like the idea of having all the edits in the same session as the main project, maybe just not following each other down the timeline.
Also, I noticed the scrub tool feature most DAW's have wasn't mentioned much. That's the only... way I can fathom being that accurate of the music ending exactly 0.5 seconds prior to the end of the cut down. (I will mention this in a response to that topic link).
Thanks again guys for the link and advice; sorry I didn't take the time to do a search on this first.

No problem Dave!
We all have our different ways of cutting the same piece of wood...
I like to use my Marker Track (Cubase) to set timed marks after the original tune :10, :15, :30 and :60
Then stuff those sections by copying and pasting.
The edited Bumps and Stingers don't have to be exact replicas of the tune!!!
They can have their own life as long as they represent the piece well.
The better they are, the better usage for the editors
Here's an example if you want...

Bump and Stinger at the end... I don't send the songs to libraries like this though, just the original piece.
I deliver the bumps and stingers when they are asked for.

Good info.
Do you usually wait to do edits, only when they're asked for, or do you automatically do them when finishing the song just to have them ready in case?

I wait to do bumps and stingers 'till they are requested...
