Christmas VIs?

I know you all don't want to face it, but it's that time of the year again!

So, are there any virtual instrument packages that contain all the sounds that are needed for Christmas?

I need to get some Christmas music done and thought that if there was a ready VI it could make my life a lot easier!

Thanks

I theenk the Kontakt factory instruments include some decent celeste, harp and a variety of bells.

I dont know of any one vi that covers christmas in particular, but in omnisphere and keyscape there are quite a few particular patches, and sonokinetic and soundiron have some fun small libs for christmas as well. Also the symphobias have lots of useful tools, but it is a bit much to get them just for christmas cues 8-) mojos suggestion with kontakt is also solid, imo. Those patches are more unprocessed, but can sound really great after mixing.

On top of any virtual instruments & patches you run across, you can't go wrong with buying a real set of sleigh bells for like $15.

Yeah, it's kinda crazy, how you can buy real sleighbells, for less than samples. But if you're not a percussionest, the latter option might be better.

Thanks for your help Mojo, Matt, Kolstad and John! Its useful to get a bunch of resource ideas, VI and real instruments included!

I hadn't thought about using the Celeste and harp to create a christmas soundscape, will add it to mix!

As you'll have mentioned, its probably best for me to use the range of instruments from a few different VI companies.

I have found the following while researching this subject:
-The music box in the world instruments section of Kontakt has a christmassy sound.
-The Pro Tools Xpand2 has a good selection of bells and a wind chimes that is useful in this genre.
-A website that lists how to create your own christmas SFX: https://www.asoundeffect.com/the-ultima ... d-effects/

I hear those sleigh bells jingling....!

That got me to thinking; I have a vast collection of vintage and ancient music boxes on vinyl; I wonder would anyone be interested in a sample library built from that?

I'm sure if you promote it as a Christmas collection there would be a market as everyone has to compose a Christmas song at time in their recording career and have a ready package would be handy. Maybe add some bells and wind chimes as well?

Mojo, if you made this - even if it was just a bunch of one-shots and/or 2, 4, or 8 bar loops - I'm sure you could sell tons. Not sure what a good price point would be, but if you had a pretty sizable of .wav files & loops, $20 wouldn't be too much to ask for a niche product like this. Heck, I've never seen a sample / loop library that's specific to Christmas sounds. Could be a good way to enter the loop market with a valuable & affordable product!
