I recently started taking my ipad pro to work and during my lunch hour I’ll put together some ideas which later I export over to my main DAW at home. It took me a few months to find the apps that best fit with my workflow, but so far I’ve narrowed it down to Beatmaker 3. https://intua.net/beatmaker3/

The learning curve for me was a little slow but once I got the hang of it, I was able to double my productivity.
I was also using Garageband for awhile which has a great UI which helps you lay out ideas faster, but it lacks a lot of important bits and pieces for me to consider it for professional use.

Is anyone else using a hybrid of IOS along with their desktop for production on a regular basis? How it working for you?

a while back I used Garage Band for Ios to compose a tune, then exported it to garageband desktop (and Logic) ... The end result is this tune https://soundcloud.com/johnnyguitar/family-bonds.. I used the midi from the export to Logic desktop and ran the strings through a string VI( EW symphonic gold) which matched up pretty well here. only prob is you cant get all that many variations in gatageband for ios- maybe 5.. but its an inteersting way to get ideas..

Also to me much easier if you compose very contemporary (EDM) music...
