If I record a guitar line in to Pro Tools, is there a way I can send that recorded signal back out to play through my guitar amp? I then want to mic up the amp and record that signal back into Pro Tools. My interface is an Apogee Duet.

The idea is to be able to have the guitar part playing through the amp along with the rest of the track In Pro Tools while I mess with the settings on the amp to see what sounds good.

I use the Pro RMP. Radial gear is very reliable/durable.

The process is known as Re-Amping and can be applied to many instruments and not just guitars.

Sure re-amping has been used a lot since the early 2000s.

Personally I've used the Radial JDI to record and the Pro RMP as a reamp. If you are using an the Avid Eleven rack, AXE-FX or a Kemper (they have the inbuilt reamping option which is super useful).

I would definitely suggest you check out Radial's range if you're thinking of dwelling into reamping. There are many other brands that are as awesome, but it's just the ones I've been using lately.

With the new guitar plugins from all these amazing companies, I tend to mic my amps a lot less these days. Althought I do go back from time to time for that specific sound in my head.

I prefer using analogue delay pedals because changing the time value doesn’t cause audio havoc the way it sometimes does with a digital pedal (which can be an interesting effect, I guess).
