Akai Force 3.0.5 worth it?

Is the Akai Force 3.0.5 all that it pretends to be or does it have serious limitations as a standalone that would not work for studio music production? Not interested in using it for live performance.
Someone said that 3.0.5 was firmware. If it's a good beastie does anyone know which version I need to buy in order to install the 3.0.5 update?
