How to get this Eric Church vocal sound?

I have a client recording the song "Like a wrecking ball" by Eric Church and I am wondering how they got this vocal sound. It reminds me of a slap back vintage delay similar to what John Lennon was known for but there is something else going on here. It sounds like a "shadow" of the original vocal kind of floats around on top of the lead. Not sure if this is a "room" effect, double mic or vintage hardware reverb? The effect comes in stronger around the 30 second mark in the song. I have tried a few things but I am finding it hard to nail this effect well as it sounds fairly unique.

Thanks for chiming in. Any plugins you would recommend to nail this sound? I know the original method with the tape machines was best. Not sure if tape machines were used to create this effect on the song considering I'm sure it was done in a high end studio. I am using mostly UAD and Soundtoys plugins currently.

Waves have a dedicated plugin - I'm sure there are some tutorials on YT though as well

Yes this is my first choice and seems to sound great from the videos I have checked out. Hopefully this works if I get this effect. Thanks for your insights.
