Native Instruments - Una Corda - Felt Noise?

We created this piece, "May We All Be Healed" using Native Instruments Una Corda (configured "felt - warm") and got feedback that the felt noise in the piano was a bit too much. Two questions:

1) Do you agree?

2) If it is too much, how can we moderate it? We've tried Googling a bit, and it seems this may just be a characteristic of the instrument - "a feature, not a bug"?

(Any other feedback also welcome!)

Thanks!

What I got from the comment without the listing, maybe referring to the mix levels. Either bring up the level of the strings or lower the piano volume.

Thanks, Andre. Yeah, there is no listing. Just something we're working on.

I agree about the mix... piano it too loud or strings are too soft. It gets better near the very end.

As far as the felt piano noise goes, that's a stylistic preference. I'm a big fan of Nils Frahm and the genre of felt piano and close mic piano. However, noises like that will kill most changes at getting a taxi forward, unless the listing specifies noisy Nils Frahm -like piano music. :) The noises are distracted for many listeners, especially if they are not familiar with the style.

If you like this genre, I strongly recommend Noire, from Native Instruments. It's my favorite piano for this stuff.

Thank you, Paulie. Think we will go with Noire.

I saw that link showing the parameters in Kontact-- I'm pretty sure that won't adjust the felt/mechanical/etc noises in Una Corda. Instead when you're in either Kontakt or Komplete Kontrol and using Una Corda, you see the illustration of the Una Corda instrument and to the upper left you will see three symbols-- a soundwave, something that looks like a blowtorch-- I'm probably an idiot but I don't know what it is, haha, and then the letters FX. If you click on the left symbol-- the soundwave looking icon, it opens up a control section called "Workbench" and in here you can adjust all the parameters of mechanical noises etc. There is a parameter for "Fabric" and you can adjust the amount.

Also, I agree with Paulie-- Noire is awesome.

I have to agree with Paulie here...... As much as I tend to avoid NI stuff, NOIRE is gold man..... Would be perfect here

You can alter the parameters on Una Corda, including mechanical noise. I did this for a lo-fi cue, and while it was returned for developmental arc, the reviewer commented that he liked the piano sound. But for this, I agree that Noire is the way to go.
