I'm new to GarageBand and have a naive question about the drum beats. I want to write a song with that syncopated beat that is popular now.. like "For Your Entertainment" or "Uprising" or "Rock n Roll" by Gary Glitter. GarageBand doesn't have it. Does anyone know where I can find this drum loop?

P.S. I ordered a M-audio Keystation. I'm wondering if it's in there.

Dorothy, Groovemonkee.com probably has it if anyone. I think what you are refering to is a backbeat. I'll check my groovemonkee to see what package it is in, probably country or soft rock.
I just looked and soft rock has a couple and power rock has a few.

"Rock 'N' Roll" is a backbeat shuffle, similar to SRV's "Change It"; you might find it under either blues, rock or bread'n'butter beats.

I'm still having a heck of a time finding this drum loop. I downloaded a bunch of free loops from Groovemonkee and macloops and couldn’t find it. I can find the rhythm in jazz loops with just cymbals but I really want a rock drum loop with this rhythm. It's all over the radio so I don't know why it's not more readily available out there. i.e. "I Kissed a Girl", "For Your Entertainment", "Uprising".

I'm technologically challenged. If anyone can recommend a place I can find this drum loop, I'd really appreciate it.

You can try doing a google search, "midi file for 'For Your Entertainment'" or search for any song that has the feel your looking for. Lots of people do mock ups of these tunes and post them on the web just for fun. Download the file, drag it into GB and then erase all the instruments you don't need and just leave the drum part. Seems illegal or something but you can't copyright a drum part so don't worry.

Your Keystation won't have any sounds in it, it's just a controller. But you can control the crap out of anything with it.

Surely one of these talented forum members can help out, oh wait... maybe I can help!
Are you looking for a finished loop (wav) or just MIDI so you can tweak?

I guess I'm looking for a finished loop since I wouldnt know how to tweak it.

hmmm i never use finished audio loops but if you really want that way maybe you can try this for apple loops to use with garageband..

it will be good to learn how to use drum samplers and use MIDI files and tweak stuff though. the files you downloaded from groovemonkee are all MIDI files to be used with drum samplers like Ez drummer/Addictive Drums/BFD/superior/SSD etc etc..

See if this works, it's at 125bpm, I made it in three different sections slightly varied.
