Hey All,

Why do ProTools reverbs, be it the standard D-Verb or Waves R-Verb, sound like they are panned more right than left?

Hey Scott! Yea, I always check that out on my analog Soundcraft board, but this is purely digital; A Digi002 board connected by Firewire straight from the computer. The track is stereo, but is panned "center" (100% L&R) on the Digi002. On a delay plugin, I can alter the balance, but on reverbs I can't (or don't how to, which is certainly a possibility!).

Is your reverb return panned?

I don't have any of the reverbs which you speak, but aren't there any reverb controls? I'm wondering if there are any auto panning reverb controls? If so, there are settings that you can control how much each left and right channel is panning. If the left and/or right channel setting(s) are turned more clockwise, they will pan more to the right channel. Mine automatically display in real time how much they are panning, unless they are turned off.

Hmmm, Mazz & Len,

As I said, there are controls on the separate channels of "delay" plugins, L&R, so I can balance them or change the delay times for each side. But, as far as I can tell, there are no L&R inputs and outputs on the reverbs. There is a master gain, and all the other stuff like reverb percentage etc., but there's no way that I can find to alter the programmed stereo reverb level by L&R channels.

You must have the reverb assigned to an aux or an audio channel, that's where you need to look for the panning, maybe not on the reverb itself. What does the manual say?

How have you got the reverb set-up? Do you...

1. have it on an aux input and are bussing the signal to the aux via a send on the audio track (best method)

2. Have you inserted the reverb directly on the audio track (possible, but generally not recommended)

I have noticed that some stereo plugs don't like to be 'multi mono' but prefer the other option (escaping me at this moment) - I have noticed some plugs 'pulling to the left' as it were - but when I switch the insert type (as above) the problem goes away.

Multi-channel? I googled and saw a problem similiar, but almost backwards, anyway they mentioned multi-mono and multi-channel also.
