Ok,

So ill start with my equipment list, which consists of,

Macbook (1gb ram/ 120 hdd 10.4)
cubase le 4
Alesis master control
Mxl v89
mpk49
SE reflex filter

my problem is this, when im running the mixer through my macbook into cubase, everything seems to be hooked up right, i hear myself clearly, and all the faders are responsive. My problem is this, for some reason, my vocals dont record whatsoever. Ive tried messing with the vst connections, tried mono, tried stereo, but it just isnt recording. To be exact, when i hit record, you see the line going across the bars, with the recorded audio (which is flatlined), and when i hit stop, POOF! its gone, even the box dissapears. I been scratching my head all the way through my scalp on this one, I talk into the mic and hear myself, but i cant figure why its not working. Thinking of upgrading to a macbook pro with 10.6 snow lepard...any ideas or thoughts???

Hi Jon!

Sounds like some setting in Cubase. I tried ver 4 but it really pi$$ed me off. Tracks would arm themselves for recording and lots of weird stuff. I'm not kidding, I would disarm a track and come back and it would be re-armed. I recorded lots of stuff into incorrect tracks all the time. I tried it for several weeks and finally gave up on it. Not sure if this helps or not. Maybe some Cubase guru will give you an answer.

Good Luck!
Keith

Are there other tracks that do get recorded, other than the vocal? Normally, there'll be settings (usually in a menu, somewhere) that activate the inputs on your interface, and often a record-enable switch for each audio track. (there's also a meter, usually, so you can see if the software is receiving signal) HTH
