I want to add some samples to Kontakt that don't have an installer. Where do I put the .nki files and where do I put the samples? I can't find this in the manual. I keep my samples on a dedicated hard drive and I want them to be available to Kontakt as well as the EXS24 sampler. Can I create a 'user folder' so that I can keep track of which samples are mine and which are from the Kontakt library?

I find it's easier to keep the NKI files and the samples in either the same folder, or have a "parent" folder such as "Piano library X" and then have the instruments on the top level of that folder and the samples in their own folder within that folder.

That being said, there's no rule, the samples can be on any drive which can be different from where the instruments are, and as long as you tell Kontakt where they are the first time you load an instrument, it should remember the path from then on.

Thanks, yes that does help. With the EXS the instruments have to be in a specific place (Library/Application Support/Logic). Your way of organizing makes sense. I'm gonna start calling you the "Sample Mazzter". Aargh, lame humor is still humor.
