Hey guys,
Thanks for participating in the DAW poll - I like the thoughts and responses. How 'bout this...
What was the very first multitrack recorder you used?
In 1984, my dad bought me a Tascam Porta One Ministudio for my birthday...I had never seen something so functional and beautiful! The possibilities were endless! The VU meters were awesome.

I think it was a Tascam (maybe Teac; they merged at some point, iirc) four track reel-to reel with Sel-Sync, but I used a borrowed cassette four-track before that. Before that, I had a Craig cassette mono deck, which wasn't too bad, if you used an external mic; the internal condenser had a crappy limiter that was great for enhancing the motor noise.

Got my first 4 track in '89, a Yamaha MT100, then a MT 120 like the one pictured below. Great recorder!

I sold mine years ago and bought a Fostex R8. I'm trying to sell that now...

I spent my first student loan check on a Yamaha 4-track and a first generation Yamaha drum machine. My favorite 4-track was the porta studio, loved that thing...eo.

I had a TEAC 4-track reel-to-reel from about 1986 on.. Came with a deal with the original Mixer from TEAC and a Shure SM7 mic. Still use the mic sometimes.

I had the Sansui WS-X1 6trk
I liked it... shortly after I realized I had no clue what I was doing... I bought a book, "The Musician's Guide to Home Recording."
