Hi all,Just wondering if any of you have tried using any of the following soft-synths, and if so, what your thoughts are:Rob Papen - Predator Virtual SynthRob Papen - Albino 3 Virtual SynthRob Papen - Blue Virtual SynthI liked the demos of the Albino and Blue synths in particular, and the price is sure right. But, you know how demos -- like movie trailers -- can sometimes be deceiving. So, I'm hoping to get some real-world reviews from anyone who has actually used the synths.Any thoughts?Kevin

Kevin,I haven't used them but they seem to be pretty highly regarded. I had considered Predator for more aggressive sounds and may still demo it at some point. But I do love hardware synths too and have been eyeing this as I'm a big Dave Smith fan (I have a tabletop Evolver that I love): http://www.davesmithinstruments.com/products/mopho/But the Rob Papen stuff is highly regarded, I don't think you could go wrong.Mazz

Ah man, those Mopho demos were nice! Very cool sound! Hmmmm..... maybe I should save up for a hardware synth again. I haven't bought a hardware synth in 5 years. The Korg Triton was the last one I bought. Thanks for the input on the Rob Papen synths. If they've got a good reputation, I'll probably buy at least one of them. The price sure isn't bad. Thanks!Kevin

The Dave Smith stuff is awesome. He is the guy who invented the Prophet 5 and the Mopho is one voice of his new Prophet 08, kind of like the Pro One was one voice of the Prophet 5. I'm still kicking myself for selling my Pro One!!!!The Evolver is a hybrid Analog/Digital synth (both the Mopho and the Evolver are monophonic) and it can make some really mean sounds and some fantastic analog synth noises as well as sounds that don't sound like any other synth you've ever heard. I use it for a lot of low notes and squanky filter stuff (it also has audio in!!). It has a 4 track sequencer in it and the tracks can be assigned to just about anything so the modulation possibilities are pretty huge. Can you tell I like it? Here's a link to a track that used the Evolver on it. The track is called "Blown Away" and it's the kind of wah wah wah filter mod sound down in the lower midrange: http://www.johnmazzei.com/album/17If you get one of the Rob Papen synths, I'd love to hear what you do with it!!!Cheers!!Mazz
