E-Mu has made their Proteus VX VSTi w/composer bank available free to subscribers to the E-Mu newsletter. (you can opt out at any time) This is easily the most comprehensive and useful free virtual instrument in my collection-I just spent several hours auditioning presets and didn't get through half of them. If you don't have this, you probably need it.click where it says, "free download"

Will somebody please make a copy of the this Emu one, then send it to me? Downloading large files just aint happenin' here. And if you've got the Independance sampler you can throw that one on too. ;P Waiting for the "living in a world of elves, gnomes and unicorns" comment but I can take it.

Which DAW are you using and on what platform, Gong?

after installing proteus, i keep getting an error and i can't open my DAW. do i need to move any other files into the vst folder? perhaps a DLL file?

This one worked fine for me in T3, once I figured out it installed the DLL in the Steinberg folder by default (yes, I merrily clicked my way through the first time without looking! Duh!). FYI it installs the DLL in an "E-Mu" folder, and I didn't have to move anything like I did with the Independence one though to get it going. Not sure what problem you're having on startup Marc, what DAW are you running?

Check the readme file for issues, Marc? Tell us more about your rig, not being able to open your DAW sounds pretty serious, maybe check with the gurus at KVR forums, see if anyone else had this problem..

I was really amped about the whole thing until I saw that the Proteus is 'Windows only'. Bummer.... I used to have a Proteus rack unit back in the '90s, loved that thing. I used to run it MIDI thru my Alesis QS-6. Great stuff...
