GIMME 3 REASONS!!

Post by ibanez468 » Wed Aug 06, 2008 2:33 pm

O.K. gals & guys! Just got my hands on 3 new Reason refills in the last week or so. Haven't had a whole lot of time to experiment, but I did get ta' play a little.Reason Pianos Refill - I like the sound of 'em. 1 Steinway D Grand Piano. 1 Steinway K Upright Piano, & 1 Yamaha C7 Grand Piano. They all sound nice!! And are very well mic'd IMO. A buddy of mine says that they may in fact sound better than the ones he just got from Native Instruments (the Komplete Classics Keyboard Collection) He claims that he couldn't tell where a new sample started because they all had the same volume. He could tell where the new sample started on which key for the Classics because it was louder (or softer) than the previous keys. He notices things like that.Reason Drum Kits - I really like these. They have a totally different sound than the EZ Drummer or the Addictive Drummer. The Reason Drums really sound like a dry "studio" kit. Nice, full "studio-like" sounds. Unlike the others, which really sound more like "Rock" kits. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just sumpin' I noticed. They definitely have a different FLAVOR as far as drums are concerned. Will be using these ta' get more of that "studio" sound that we've all heard on records. And last but not least - Reason Electric Bass. Only tinkered around with this for a HOT minute. Marcblack30 will be happy to know that these might be worth the investment ($100). I tried out the Jazz & the Precision basses, and they sounded pretty good. Also, the Rickenbacker as well. With some time & practice, I'm certain I can get 'em ta' sound halfway decent in the context of a song. I'll let ya' know when I do something where I've actually implemented the refill, but you all's might have it by then. Hey, you can never have enough weapons, right?? I-468

Cool I wanna try that Rickenbacker voicing. Too bad I don't use a computer for music! One of these days I'll switch from my "all in one" workstation!

Reason is such a monster, i love it!I'd love to hear some finished stuff with the refill, it does look like it will take some time to get it down but it will surely be worth it.
