No, I'm not dropping out of Cubase School.But the EZ Drummer track that I recorded has apparently left the building. I recorded a fairly elaborate drum track that was working fine. Then I recorded several audio tracks and it was still playing fine. Then suddenly the drum track could not be heard at all, and I can't seem to get it back.-All the track data is still visible, and when I solo it, there is an audio signal jumping on the meter, but it cannot be heard-The output is still set to EZ Drummer as it should-The track is NOT muted, nor is it set for monitor-CPU seems to be doing fine, not overloaded-I have restarted the program, no dice-I have restarted the computer, no dice-I have opened and listened to another file that also uses EZ Drummer, and it still plays fineDoes anyone know what I might be missing here??So frustrating...could have accomplished a lot more today...Thanks in advance,-Mark

Mark,Assuming you have drop and dragged the midi tracks to a midi track, you should be able to remove and reinstall EZ Drummer, even if you did a freeze on EZ Drummer.OR could you import the midi track to a new track with EZ Drummer installed.Once the midi is dragged to a track it is completely independent of EZ Drummer.Chuck

The thing is, if the quote above is true...then shouldn't that new MIDI track still play, independent of EZ Drummer? I'm baffled, because a different file with the same sort of EZ Drummer MIDI track plays fine.But what do I know...tonight I'll remove EZ Drummer and reinstall it...actually on a bigger drive. Mark,Yes , the midi track will play independently of EZ Drummer if you set the track output to something different. If you point it to a different drum module (Battery 3 for instance)it will play drums, they just may not be mapped to the right instruments.A little clarification. I did not mean that you should uninstall the program, especially if you've gotten it to work in another track. I was referring removing it from the tune you are working on and then adding it back as a VI. The midi track you created should not be affected, but to be sure you may want to copy to another track. I don't use Cubase so I don't know their lingo for this. In Sonar 7 there is a virtual instrument rack where you manage your plug ins.I would also look at the events in the midi track to see if you inadvertently added some controller messages affecting playback.This can all be hit and miss at times.Chuck

Can you remove some stuff from your almost full hard drive, and put it where you have more space? My EZdrummer was a LOT slower when my operating system drive was close to full. Sometimes, it wouldn't even load the samples. I think the enormous EZ Drummer program itself should be moved to my more spacious drive. Hope it works.Thanks Steve, sorry about the birthday.

Thanks Ibanez,Chuck was right: since the MIDI tracks were still there but not playing somehow, I opened new MIDI tracks, copied the old tracks and pasted them onto the new ones...sure enough, they work. I deleted the old ones. So, we have a remedy, but not really a solution. My C Drive being close to full is probably the culprit, so I'm going to chalk this mystery up to that and move some programs and data elsewhere.Thanks for the help, guys!

Mark,I don't know what other VI's you use, but it is fairly easy to move (or copy) the samples to another drive and keep the programs on your C drive. Most folks with a lot of instruments use three drives. C: drive for operating system and programs, D: drive for audio, E: drive for samples. You do have to point the program to the new destination where the samples reside.I've gravitated to external drives for the sample libraries. When I update my computer I'll install the programs for the VI's but not the samples. I'll just plug in the external drives and point the program in that direction. This will save hopurs and hours of transition time.Glad everything worked with retrieving your work.Welcome to the world of midiots.Chuck
