Reason 2.5 and Rex loops

Hey AllHow can I slice up a Rex loop in Reason such that each component (kick, snare etc) is routed to a different channel (either in Reason or through Rewire into Cubase’s mixer).I know I can isolate the component sounds/slices using my MIDI controller but don’t know how to route them from there. Obviously, I could reprogram the loop. But more obviously (to me anyway) I can’t Too tricky.Any ideas? Guess what I’m really asking is if there’s an easy way to apply individual EQ/pan/compression to different slices of a Dr Rex loop in Reason? Yup… that’s what I’m trying to say Thanks Liam

Hey Liam,I might be wrong, but off the top of my head I don't think you can do what you are talking about. As far as I know, you can only do that with ReDrum. That is why I rarely use drum loops for my songs. You just don't have enough control for a lot of applications. The only thing I can think of would be to make a separate Dr. Rex player loaded with the same drum loop for each sound you were going to use. I do that sometimes but usually only with high hats as a lot of the drum loops have a high hat sound that I need but isn't really available in the stock redrum library.Good luck with it.-Steve

Yes!Load the loop in to NNXT (it will read REX files directly from its browser). Each slice will be automatically given a key on the keyboard chromatically ascending (a zone in NNXT language). In NNXT you can assign each zone to an output (hit the tab key and you'll see separate outputs from NNXT). You can then do what you want with each zone. You'll have to probably put the REX loop in Dr. Rex first and then send it to a MIDI track in the Reason Sequencer. Then re-assign the track to trigger the NNXT instead of Dr. Rex.Happy looping!!Mazz
