Guitar into bass sim

I used to have a Roland VS880EX digital 8 track which had a nifty little effect which could turn your guitar lines into bass lines. It had a list of basses to choice from. When I converted to a laptop DAW I opted for trilogy instead, which is a great program but doesn't emulate a good plucked rawk bass sound in my opinion. It's very hard to make Trilogy rock bass sound organic. So I want to get something like what I used to use on the 8 track.Does anyone know of a VST which does a similar job to the bass emulator effect that the Roland VS 880EX had?

besides stating that nothing beats a bass like a bass...i would say you get an intersting effect using a guitar through the RBC voice tweaker/ and tweaker pro...reason has some great bass instrument refills that are pretty slick too...

Lately I have been using the Quantum Leap Ministry Of Rock (MOR). There are only a few Bass instruments but they are top notch and have all the articulations. Im not aware of any 'guitar to bass' processors that do more than a moderate emulation of a real bass and I too would love to find one. I often find myself pulling out my trusty 5-string Ibanez Bass to get the job done right.

Is there nothing similar to the Roland VS 880 bass effect then? I can't believe no-one's come up with it in a VST version. It would be a guitarist dream and much easier to use than a bass synth/sampler.It functions a bit like an Octivider (T-Rex style) but with more bass realism.I recently pulled out an old session I did from 2001 using this bass sim and I put the track through a preset on GuitarRig. The bass was awsome. A really low-slung dirty bass like something you may find on Elliot Smith's heavier tracks such as at the end of 2.45am.Perhaps I just need to get me a bass...sigh! More money. More learning. No Time.

I remember when I had my Roland BR1600, it had a bass simulator on there that really sounded great - but alas I haven't found anything that could match it... must be a Roland thing...

Can't you just pitch it down an octave or two, and run it through a bass-amp-simulator?Well, I haven't tried it, but I think it might work. - until next timefrodoEdit: - probably best to use a program that keeps the timbre when pitching down...
