Opinions on Line 6 tone port etc...

Any of you out there use the Line 6 products? My son got an electric guitar for Christmas and we chose to get the Line 6 tone port I think it's called. We had to decide the best way to get what he was playing into the computer, and decided to go with this box. It's a really neat piece of equipment for the price. It gets the licks and everything. It comes with a ton of preamps and effects (in the software). You can also run a mic through it. It sounds so good that upon playback it fooled his uncle, who is a multi nominated Grammy songwriter/producer from back in the day, and been doing this a long time. My son was recording him messing around on the guitar one day and he didn't know it was recording. When he played it back you should have seen his face. He couldn't believe how real it sounded. Of course they released some newer models since then, boo hoo, but just thought I'd get feedback from anyone who might be using it.

Is the pod xt something a die hard guitarist might use? He's still a novice, but was pleasantly surprised by the line 6 gear box. Always looking for the next "fix" though.

ive seen a few of them go up on stage, generally at that stage youd run it through an amp, but if you are still recording D/I then an xt is just the tone port x10, lot more models and effects to flip around in, and you can buy little upgrade packages down the road for it, all in all its a pretty impressive set up, what i do, and i suggest you do it, go to like sound click, or somewhere with kinda ametuer performers that do songs, and just search for like pod xt, and youll find people using it in there songs, and they are just ok/bad guitarists, so you can really hear how it sounds and stuff

I'm a huge fan of the Line 6 products. I originally heard the Amp Farm plugin years ago while laying down tracks for a major label and have been using their products ever since. I used to use Boogie's exclusively but a few trips to the local music store and trying out the different models I deceided on the Line 6 Spider II w/celestion. For around $200 this little beast is hard to beat (especially mic'ed). I have also been using the PODPro for many years.Depends on your budget and recording setup but they are a company to keep on your hit list.

Cool, Seeing as the electric guitar is the first live instrument we've used in recordings, we've loved it so far. Thanks
