if anyone has ever heard of jay bennett and thought too much about his music and production the way i have....maybe you can help me answer this. is there a vst instrument i can use to get that cheap crappy drum machine sound he uses sometimes. Knowing him on his recordings it literally is a cheap crappy old drum machine but i wondered if there was some type of vst instrument i could get that would mimic that sound. he uses it in places through out his solo albums...his last one has it right at the beginning of the first track i think. it reminds me of the 80's sounding drum machine on a phil collins song...the name escapes me right now

howdy djboyd...im not sure about any virtual instrument...but Reason has TONS of refills made by fans that have everykind of drum machine sampled..even the commodore 64!being a fan of reason, you can always take a perfectly greatdrum set sample and turn it into golden crap by editing samplesand reducing them to "bleech!" by running them through the scream disortion(or any other effect reason has that will warp the sound.)or nothing like sampling your own sounds from an old keyboard you have!

why not get a crappy cheap drum machine and program you drum track into a music recording program and then send the midi out to the crappy machine and record the output as audio?

I'm sure you can find some free vsts or soundfont files on the internet
