A quick glance at the FAQ section makes me think twice about using any of these on something that might potentially end up on TV or in a Film.Since the loops are provided by the members, how can you be 100% sure that they are all playing by the rules and not putting something in that they sampled illegally?With this type of thing I tend to be pretty conservative and only use loops I have bought and have a license that allows their use in libraries, etc.I suggest acting as if you are already licensing your music to film and TV. Hey Mazz,Yeah you're 100% correct on that... so then the best method would be to purchase loops etc??? I think I've seen some really cool ones online for only £15.... should I read the licensing agreement before I purchase them? anything I should look out for in the agreements?Have you ever used loops and stuff for your tracks?Thanks for your reply...Take CareB

Sometime back, a guy posted several "beats" that he had developed. Being an "old guy", I recognized portions of the loop as being from one of the albums that "Yes" did back in the 70's. Anyone using that loop then would unwittingly open themselves to litigation from the copyright owner of those old "Yes" tracks. Personally, I stick with loops and stuff from established sources where I know that everything is guaranteed to have been pre-cleared.

But I don't sample from records. I only buy and use loops from companies with "library friendly" licensing agreements.Be particularly cautious with "construction kit" loop libraries. They are basically a complete groove (or even song ) broken down to it's component parts. In this case, the licenses are usually more restrictive because it would be easy for a lazy, unethical composer to submit the unadorned song as their own. I tend to stay away from these types of libraries myself.The reputable loop companies stay in business because they keep it clean and above board. You don't want a client to get sued because you unwittingly used an uncleared loop. That's a career killer if I've ever see one!Mazz

hey there,,,,It's funny that the forum is right on point with me...I spent all night trying to get addictive drums to work in Adobe Audition....and no go....I think buying loops is going to have to be my route...thanks for the topic...vtbp

I've heard great things about Addictive Drums, bummer you're having problems. If you can get it to work that would be great because MIDI loops are much more flexible than audio loops as far as tempo, moving single notes around, etc. I don't know Audition but it seems to me it should host VST instruments, maybe not. I'd ask around, though, it'd be a shame to not be able to use such a great piece of software.Mazz

Yeah and that there are some companies that sell like cd's with over 4000 different drum patterns in different styles (midi) which you are right is a lot more flexible than audio loops - but I suppose in a sense when the new melodyne comes out - that won't be the case anymore?

thanks...I'll work on a few more things...before I decide to use audio loops...I actually have a dream....I need to be able to control many aspects of my drums...I have a 7/4 electronica in my head...and a 6/4 hiphop Beatles song...I'll keep looking around....thanks...vtbp
