Kontakt 3 / Logic problem

Hi,I recently got E/W Gold Bundle which came with the Kompakt player and I got an external drive for this......everything has been been running smoothly until now.....I've just got the Kontakt 3 cross-grade as I thought it'd be nice to have more sounds etc.... I just installed all the Kontakt 3 discs onto the external drive but Logic will not recognize Kontakt as a plug-in. I then thought...(I'm new to external drives ) ummmm...maybe I should have only installed the actual sample libraries to the external drive....so.......I did a custom re-install and installed the first disc onto the Mac's internal HD.10 hours later......Logic is still not recognizing it as a plug-in....if I add a new software instrument track etc...it's not under the AU plug-ins....it's also not in Logic's AU Manager......I've tried re-scanning and clearing the cache. Although I obviously have no idea how to use it yet, it seems to have successfully installed as the stand-alone version (on the internal and external!)If somebody could possibly point out (the blatantly obvious?) problem here, I'd be very grateful. I've got Logic Pro 8 and an iMac G5 on Leopard.Thank you.A technically challenged female in need of some help

Hey RLC,I can only give you a recent experience I had with Kontakt, Addictive Drums & Cubase LE, as I could not get Cubase to recognize these plug-ins for sh*t in the world, no matter what I did. Finally, I decided to copy the plug-in from the respective folders of each Virtual Instrument, and place it in the Cubase plug-in folder. And after I restarted Cubase LE, it then began to recognize each virtual instrument, and I was able to choose each one as my MIDI output. So maybe you can try that. Find your plug-in (VST) folder for Kontakt 3, copy the plug-in and paste it in the plug-in folder for Logic (if it has one, as I'm not familiar with Logic) and see if that'll possibly get you some results. Hope this helps.I-468

First of all...thank you very much Ibanez for your post. I have just this second found the solution.....I thought I had done everything possible to get Logic to recognize Kontakt 3 but........I'd downloaded the OSX 3.0.2 update but had not actually unzipped/run it. It does amaze me a bit how the product would not work at all as it was shipped but hey since running the update...it works.Ibanez - your sentence:- "I could not get Cubase to recognize these plug-ins for sh*t in the world" really made me laugh .Well, it's only taken about 12 hours and a bottle of white wine to get that installed. Thanks again Ibanez Rachel

Hey Rach,I'm enjoying some wine as well myself, talking to my brother, watching some show about old Saturday Night Live clips (as there's nothing else on TV at the moment). I feel your pain about the 12 hours. These types of things really make you put on your thinking cap when situations don't work out the way they're expected to. Glad you got the mystery solved. Now the fun begins!I-468
