Hi all,I'm getting ready to pick up an apogee rosetta. I've read around a lot but still don't quite understand how it connects to my PC.I assume I should buy a sound card produced for the rosetta? Then does it have a firewire link? I know there's also AES/EBU connection but most of what I read assumes that you have basic knowledge. I can't find anything that tells me if/how this might connect to my PC. Maybe I buy a card that makes it compatible? Just a little context: XP professional, Logic 5.0Thanks for any information or links you may be able to offer.JES

A quick glance at Apogee's website says that there is an optional Firewire Card for use with Windows XP or Mac OSX. I'd strongly recommend getting the card. There's no need to add another soundcard to your computer if it already has Firewire capability.Apogee makes really nice stuff, you should be very happy with the Rosetta, I've heard nothing but good things about it!!Enjoy,Mazzhttp://www.apogeedigital.com/products/rosetta2 ... w=features

One more question if you don't mind. If I'm using the rosetta as my A/D converter and clock source, do I need a sound card with AD/DA conversion, timeclock, etc.? In otherwords, with RME am I paying for the quality of the sound or for the fact that the RME sound card could stand on it's own without the rosetta because it has so many channels, and types of I/Os?

Quote:do I need a sound card with AD/DA conversionNot necessarily. For example HDSP AES is basically just an AES/EBU interface (no AD/DA),but it costs about as much as the Apogee expansion card. HTH- JH
