Hello all! Wow - I've been off the boards for a month and there are so many new faces!My question today: I have an Edirol PCR800 keyboard which has a ton of control knobs, sliders, touch pads, and buttons, all of which are assignable. I want to control some of the logic functions (transport with the transport on the keyboard, volume with a slider, etc). Does anybody know how this is done?I've searched everywhere - there were supposed to be control maps for logic built in to it, but they are for Logic 7 and dont work in vs. 8Thanks Mazz, since I know you'll reply to this one...Your fellow dot, Anne

Hi Anne,Since you invited me, I'll join in! But I'm not a Logic user! I don't know Logic at all. The only thing I can suggest is to try to use the Logic 7 template and see what happens. Well, honestly, I've never tried to map anything. Yes, I'm THAT shallow. But, as soon as I'm done with the little "God Above the Water" rip off I'm doing for a listing due today, I'll give it my best shot and report back. I've got a little keyboard here with a bunch of knobs just asking to be mapped to something.

Hi AnneI'm not sure about the Edirol in particular and I have Logic 7, but....... Generally, you assign the function of the controllers from your keyboard. For example, I have a Roland A-80 keyboard controller, which has four assignable controller sliders. I go into the menu of the keyboard to the "slider assignment" page and then choose "main volume", "breath control", "modulation depth", "foot controller", etc. Once the controller is set, Logic responds appropriately. I have one of my controllers set to "main volume". When I move the slider, the channel strip slider in Logic moves...voila! I never had to assign anything in Logic, it just recognized the signal when it was properly set on the keyboard. I hope this helps.Mewman

Ok. Open up the plug-in or VI you want to control. Click on or move the control you want to assign. Hit Command K.Click Learn Mode (lower right of the dialog)Move the knob or fader you want to use. Close the window. There ya go. As far as I can tell, those assignments are plug-in specific. So, when you switch from EXS to ES1, the controls you set up for EXS don't work for ES1 and vice versa. I'm sure you could assign beat pads a similar way for Ultrabeat, or just map them to typical drum keys in EXS.

Thanks for the info Stick; worked perfectly - is there a way to set up control of the transport controls in logic using the transport controls on my keyboard? This is what I was trying to do as well.

I would think so... the same procedure doesn't work? Ok, how about this... Option K brings up the key commands. Select the right function (play or stop or whatever)Hit Learn (or MIDI Learn... not looking at it at the moment)Hit the key on your keyboard.
