Ok, it's Income Tax Refund money time and I'm thinking of spending it, ha ha. This is what I have: a Korg, in a few days more a Yamaha DX7, silver EWQL, sonar home 6, wavelab. Thinking of upgrading to the gold EWQL, havent decided between NI Akoustik piano or Ivory ( have to think of CPU).What else do you guys suggest? Drums? Interface? Upgrade to Sonar producer? What?! Need input! Looove spending money on music! Yipeee!!

Drums might be next, depending on what you have in mind as far as what you're gonna' be workin' on next. I would think to get drums next only if you know they're gonna' be necessary for upcoming listings. A far as an interface and an upgrade to sonar producer, that's a personal decision. I mean, only you know what you need, and what's important for you to have NOW. Maybe Stylus RMX? Possibly Reason 4.0? Both of these are fairly easy to use, and would give you some powerful, awesome flexibility. Kontakt 3? I think that'll be my next purchase. I don't know. Just throwin' some choices out there. Just one thought - it was my understanding that the Steinburg that comes with EWQLSO Silver & Gold was top of the line... so perhaps you can spend that money elsewhere...

Hey Brindabella,Since you are thinking of upgrading to Gold EWQL you might want to look at the composers pack from EW. I mentioned this in another post. But you get Gold EWQL with xl pro upgrade, symphonic choir, ethnic RA, stormdrums and a couple of other things I don't remember the names of for a very good price. There's seven thing all to together. But anyway if your interested check out their site at www.soundsonline.com or look on Sweetwater. I recently sprung for this. Hasn't arrived yet but I'm waiting with baited breath.Derek

I see you have a lot of keyboard and instrument VSTs on your mind, but I have to throw out the question/suggestion, what do you have for vocals and acoustic tracks? Is there anything nice that should be in your mic cabinet? Software is nice stuff, but if you are doing vox and acoustic an upgrade to that signal path could be money well spent.ArkJack

Now do ya' need regular drums or percussion software? EZ drummer seems to be one of the easiest software programs for regular drums. Plus it has a latin percussion expansion pack you can purchase which looks to be inexpensive. Then there's Addictive Drummer, which is also easy to use. Just purchased this one myself. Stylus RMX is another very easy to use groove machine. Doesn't look like there's much out there regarding virtual percussion software. MOTU has an Ethno instrument package. Latigo looks like it would have been a clear winner, but it seems to have been discontinued. Can't offer anything in terms of a percussion package. Maybe others will have some suggestions on that. But that looks like what ya' might wanna' be taking a look at now. Drums & percussion. HTHibanez468

Hi Brindabella!Maybe you should consider buying some hand triggered midi percussion. I have a friend who toured with the Cirque du Soliel with Alegria for six years and he is a Korg Wavedrum fanatic. Unfortunately, they were discontinued by the company years ago and are hard to find. Scour the shops around you and see if you can find one. The Handsonic is cool and there are MIDI triggers that you can use with sticks as well.mewman
