OK - today is the big day. I bought Kontakt 3, which just now arrived. Because of the Mac Pro Intel / East West QL Silver issue I have owned EWQLSO for a solid year but have been unable to use it. I chose to go the Kontakt 3 crossgrade vs upgrading to Gold and using PLAY because I found some excellent free instructional videos on KONTAKT and realized that it was well worth the money. There is no point to this post other than to say Wow, its been a whole year already, and I'm JUST NOW getting to play with my EW Software and felt like braggin' a little. If anybody has helpful hints (besides DON"T BRAG!) for the 2 programs, please feel free to let me know - its always appreciated.

Anne,There are some very good orchestral sounds in the VSL Library that comes with Kontact 3. Very dry compared to EWQL stuff, but sometimes that's what is needed.I'm just beginning to explore the rest of the library in Kontact 3 and there is a lot of usable stuff. I'm doing an Asian track for a listing and using some of the ethnic sounds.BTW Be sure to download the updates on the Native Instrument website. Kontact 3 was unusable in Sonar 7 until the fixes.I've been a Kontact user since version one. The platform improves with every new version.I still have the libraries from 1 and 2 installed and use them frequently.Chuck

I heard the really super dry cello of VSL / Kontakt in one tutorial I found and loved it. That was actually when I said - "aha!"FYI - I don't know where they come from, but the new orchestral samples in Logic 8 Studio are really tight too!Now, here is a coincedence (or I just am not supposed to use orchestral samples yet...) The Orchestral disc 1 of my brand new Kontakt is bad (kills the installation). Evidentially there is a bad sample on it -while I wait for the "fix" I'm just copying the rest of the samples into a new directory on a new dvd and will install from there. Is it Kharma or what?
