Hey everyone, just a quick question for those who use reason, I was just wondering if you are allowed to use the samples/sounds/loops that come with it for making music for music libraries/publishers? I read the licence agreement & it says you can't use the samples on it for commercial purposes...????Thanks, Sam.

Not too sure about the liscence agreement, but theres better samples than the stock ones, and you can still use the synths, just make your own tones, if you insist on reason (its not for me, I know it inside and out, but its just iunno) you might look into royalty free samples, they are generally on par with nn-19 and nn-xt stuff, just takes a little but of doing to make your patches

The synth sounds and samples like strings, woodwinds, etc. you can definitely use. Timbaland, Andre3000, T.I. and others have all sold albums with Reason beats on them and as far as I know Props hasn't been knocking on their doors for a cut of the royalties. The loops might be a different story. I think you are safe with the drum loops. If you like a drum loop and want to be really safe, though, you can always just copy the loop using sounds in redrum. The instrumental loops I'm really not sure on. However, I did hear a bass line loop (soloed even!) that came stock with Reason 4.0 in the commercial on comedy central for that Lewis Black end of the year comedy special. So you might be Ok with instrument loops too.Honestly, I would call props and explain to them what you are doing and see for sure if its OK. Better safe than sorry. -Steve
