Has anyone worked with this virtual instrument? I'm looking for a solid set of ethnic instruments, and this seemed interesting....

Stansongman,I'm using Ethno Instrument as a VST plug in in Sonar 7. As you probably know it usaes a dreaded "dongle". Sometimes it has not played well with Sonar. The strongest part of the instrument IMO is the loops. The sync to tempo and I've actually used them quite a bit. Here's two tarcks using some of the loops:http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... 1&stream=1(the violin in the middle section are loops from this instrument)http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... 1&stream=1(several of these are loops from the insturment, the solo instruments are RA)In terms of the instruments, I also use RA and the sounds have much more detail.Another option about to be released is Ethno World 4. This update is going to be using the Kontact 2 engine and apparently with have about 1400 loops and phrases that also can be stretched. (both tempo and pitch) I have Ethno World 3 and I will update.http://www.bestservice.de/detail.asp/en ... 49p72p225I think RA is on sale currently:http://www.soundsonline.com/2007-Holida ... -201.htmlI find each library has it's strengths and weaknesses, but do work well together.Chuck

I'll brag for Nick. VI magazine did a great review on this awhile back. Made me drool seriously, as did the reviews of the new East/West Gypsy. And then yesterday, while collaborating on a tune I get an email with a killer violin bit. And he did it with E/W Gypsy.

Gypsy is pretty cool. I like the steel string guitar from Gypsy a lot as well as the violin.

Thanks Traveling Ed.The main thing I said about Ethno is that it's like a Trader Joe's market: you won't always find everything you went in for, but you'll find a lot of great stuff you really like.
