Here's a holiday sale by Spectrasonics: Stylus RMX plus all the expanders. Makes me think that there's something coming out from them at NAMM. If you've been on the fence with Stylus, now might be the time to jump!:

I use Liquid Grooves a lot. Metamorphosis is pretty cool for certain spacey/dramatic things. Retro Funk is as good as Backbeat IMO. I've not used Burning Grooves that much. With the massive editing and fx capabilities of Stylus, these expanders provide an endless variety of possibilities. The ability to personalize the sounds and feels really makes it a great package. The expanders only serve to add fuel to the fire!I'm not advocating anyone spend more money but this stuff is pretty great.Mazz

Like Mazz, I have all the included expanders. (I have also added Ethno Techno from ILIO)This is a great deal and my understanding is that it is a complete repackaging of Stylus. All of the material in the expanders was previously available as AKAI sample discs.I do use Burning Grooves. Find it good for sports stuff and occasionally contemporary jazz. There is a collection of grooves that are only bass drum, only snare, only hi hat etc. so you can "roll your own" groove. It's always disappointing to own something and then the price drop. In the case of Stylus and expanders, I paid alot more, but still feel I've gotten tremendous value.Chuck

This is a great price when compared to what it'd cost for all these things individuallyBut Logic 8's price drop is a much heavier statement than Spectrasonic's offering here. We'll see what they come out with next, but Logic's has really set the bar high(or low), when you look at software features per dollar. Stylus is still only a drum machine/module. whadaya think? Quote:Here's a holiday sale by Spectrasonics: Stylus RMX plus all the expanders. Well I think Stylus is quite a bit more than a drum machine/module. It's a must have. The most influential and widely used rhythm plugin...ever.Sure Logic is a great deal because Apple has decided to sell it at a loss leader price. But come on, which of the included instruments are "must have's"?. There are plenty of nice useable ones to be sure, but I can't think of one that hasn't been done better by a third party.matto

hey Steve,, for me stylus was a revelation. for me a {bang on piano player} to be able to drag grooves right into my sequencer was amazing ,, and then to be able to mix and match through all the expanders... Revolutionary...i know they get a lot of flack for over compression but some of the stuff ,,, for me is a blessing... remember programing a hr 16? getting great drums to go with my music has always been the biggest pain until Stylus .i dont really use "Stylus" per say but i use their technology {engine} and their expanders.long live Spectrasonics and Eric.dave

Steve,I use Stylus for basslines and atmospheric stuff via converted REX files. It's way more than a drum machine. Like I said, the FX and editing take it far beyond a simple drum box!!Mazz

I wouldn't hesitate for a second to jump on this deal, especially if you only have one of the Sage expanders. These were an awesome deal at $99 each, and now to get all five (or however many you don't already have) for that price is...well, priceless. André
