I am recording on a dell 8250 dimension 2.3 ghz 1g of memory ram and sonar 4 along with bfd drums. I would like to know if EWQL Sliver will run ok with this set up. thanks for any info you can give me. rickjr

I have a dell 3150 dimension running Cubase 4 and EW silver. After I had 1 Gb of more RAM popped into the thing it's finally working. Can't comment how it's going to work with Sonar though. But isn't Sonar-EW setup mentioned in the EW manual?

Hi Rick,One thing that's not in the manuals or whatever is that although EWQL comes in various plugin formats, including the propriatary DXi format for Sonar (which you would think would be the one to use if you're using Sonar), the VST plugin format is the one to be using. It's been too long to remember what the issues were exactly but the VST plugin's work with no problems whereas the DXi plugins had bugs.Universally, I only use the VST plugins, even if a DXi plugin format is available. That's the common format so that's where the development focus is going to be. I think they include DXi because they feel they have to. I think DXi will probably go by the wayside soon or at some point anyway.Dave

The DFD extension allows Kompakt to load just the first part of each sample, and then stream the rest off of your hard drive, saving more memory for more instruments.Luck,RanI downloaded and installed the patch yesterday, and it made a huge difference. I know I read about it around by the time I bought EW, but somehow I never came around in digging any deeper...I noticed for example that a sound that prior to DTD loaded 280Mb, now only loads around 30-40MbThanks for the tip Ran, Now the system is running even smoother
