simple question about SOG

Hey folks, I'm new here so please bear with me if this has already been answered. I've been using EWQLSOG for a couple months now and so far the only thing I haven't been able to figure out is how to edit or modify the pressure sensitivity on the attack. Alot of the samples are very squirel-y when played on any of my keyboards. The slightest change in how hard or soft I play the keys has a dramatic effect that is way out of the characteristics of the instrument. I end up having to go back after laying down the track and editing the midi lane to get the expression that I wanted. For instance I'll be playing a cello phrase normally than all of a sudden the 4-5 or 6th note (completely random) will blurt out at full attack. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance,Paul

Depending on your keyboard and/or your sequencer, you may be able to edit the velocity range that your keyboard puts out. Some keyboards give you the option of a velocity curve, for instance, less sensitive at the low velocities. Your sequencer may give you some of those options as well.As I'm not in front of my music computer, I can't see what the editing capabilities are in the Kontakt player but you may be able to look at the volume envelope and see what the velocity settings are for the attack portion of the envelope. If you do make changes, I suggest saving them as a different name and keeping the original patch settings as is.I'm just getting in to using the DXF patches per matto's suggestion. These allow you to use the mod wheel to vary the expression and some patches I believe allow you to move the wheel just past the fast attack portion of the sample. This way you are not using velocity to control the attacks but are using the mod wheel. Check those patches out.Hope this helps,Mazz

hey thanks for the feedback. Some usefull ideas I hadn't thought about, especially the mod-wheel, thanks Songwriter! And I always save any modified patches seprately, learned that one a looong time ago Mazz, lol! I save everything and delete nothing till the project is done and mastered. I have back-ups of back-ups. Course thats why I'm single I think. the wife asked if I wanted to take the kids to florida, and I said naahhh... gotta buy more hard drives.
