Let's Play
WHO WROTE THIS LYRIC!
I'm not Bob Eubanks, but pretend that I am (as a matter of fact, I've met him many times playing gigs near his Hidden Hills Estate --- Nice guy!).
But that's neither here nor there. --- AND HERE WE GO!
Bob: "Contestant #1, who wrote these two lyrics?
'Fools give you reasons, wise men never try.' AND, for bonus points:
'And curse Sir Walter Raleigh, he was such a stupid Get.'
Woah, that's pretty tough! I'll hit the timer for 30 seconds --- NOW!"
Bob "Ern" Eubanks

GOING FOR THE BONUS POINTS:
'And curse Sir Walter Raleigh, he was such a stupid Get.'

It was primarily written by John Lennon, though credited to Lennon/McCartney.

I have to get down to the Bahamas someday, Billy!
As far as your BONUS POINTS answer, if I were Alex Trebek and not Bob Eubanks, I'd say "You must be more specific. What
song, not what album." Eubanks would let it go as correct!

I have no idea! It definitely sounds British because of the "Whilst," and is somewhat cynical and/or poetic.
My two guesses: Either Peter Gabriel or Ian Anderson.

"Wow! We've got some great players on this show! Let me tell ya ---
Contestant #2: Here's your lyric!
'And I know she's living there, and she loves me to this day ---
I still can't remember when, or how I lost my way --- '
Holy Moly, that's a tough one! --- HeHeHeh! --- Certainly not a Frank Sinatra song, I'll bet... Woah, Nellie!"
