Polarization

Say the opinion of a song is strongly polarized between genders. Do you leave it alone figuring 50% of the population might like the tune or change it to make it more appealing to both sexes?

I wouldn't figure that to come up very often, but why piss off half your potential audience? That is unless it can't be done without reducing the song's appeal to one gender or the other; in that case, vive le difference!

Yes, I think I will let things fall as they may. Example, I wrote a heavy metal tune with a war theme meant for movie scoring or a video game. Male reviewer loved it, female reviewer not so much. Inversely, I got evaluations back on an Americana Ukulele romance tune the lady reviewers loved but it didn't resonate with the male reviewer. 50% is good so I'll stick with that and move on to the next tune.
