Is it just me or is this song the opposite of what we are always told to write? There's no story, there's no detail, it's so vague. Strange.Andy here are the writers: (Dave Haywood / Charles Kelley / Hillary Scott / Tom Douglas)

I know for sure that Tom Douglas is a hit writer known for many great songs such as "Little Rock" and "God's Will"The others I think are in the band though.

Yeah.... but I like it. I have the album and like most of it. Must be the sound, texture of their voices. I love Charles' voice in particular. Cool melodies and they are great performers.I guess the point is that there's more to the equation... or get an artist deal and sing what you want. Oh yeah, it doesn't hurt of your Mommy is Linda Davis.Derek

Ahh the old metaphorical "I run to you" when theres no where else to run idea. Bryan Adams made millions on it in the 80's.Crossover pop/country. I really like the song and I agree with Derek on charles voice. All 3 members have writing credits. I agree Andy, this is the antithesis of what we are expected to write. Classic case of Hit writer writing with hot new act and writing what they want! Thats why Marc Barnette was stressing the point of finding new artists to write with and develop! If Derek wasnt an old guy like me Id be writing all his songs!!!! Matt

I'm not saying I don't like the song, I do. My point is this is exactly the opposite of what we're told to write yet this is really popular...seems to me that they should want more of this stuff.Love the new pic Matt!!Andy

I agree that it's exactly the opposite of what we need to be writing to break into country. I own the album, and I enjoy the sound of their voices together, but when I first heard the song, I didn't think much of it. But I analyze songs way more than the average listener! I like the song more for how it sounds than what it says.Interesting tidbit....My song Don't Mind Me got a Taxi forward to their record label to be considered for their debut album. Well since the album is out now I guess I'm not getting the call That would have been cool to be the debut single that broke them. Oh well, a girl can dream

You can't go by what you hear on the radio. How far do you think any of us would have gotten if we'd written "River of Love" that George Strait recently recorded? The writers laughed that they'd done Harlan Howard one step better and only used two chords...and the song went to number 1.I keep getting forwards to Lady A, Montgomery Gentry, et al. through SongU. It's a nice pat on the back but any group that writes their own, isn't looking for me.We keep writing, we keep writing better. This past week I was approached by someone who had reviewed some of my very early songs for another writing organization and had torn them to shreds - now the same person is interested in pitching one of them. We keep writing, we keep writing better, we keep networking, and we write what we want to write and not what we're told to write. There's where the joy lies.Claire
